Kent Dunnington
PROFESSOR OF PHILOSOPHY
DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY CHAIR
PRE-LAW PROGRAM CO-DIRECTOR
BIOLA UNIVERSITY
I’m a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Biola University. I teach courses on many things from logic to the philosophy of addiction, but my main area of teaching is ethics.
My scholarly writing has focused on addiction and the virtues. My first book, in fact, was Addiction and Virtue (InterVarsity Academic, 2011). My second book was Humility, Pride, and Christian Virtue Theory (Oxford UP, 2019). And I have a book forthcoming with Baker Academic on gratitude to God. I have also written more popularly on economics and social justice. What interests me is the difference Christianity makes, or is supposed to make, to the way we live every day.
As a mid-Westerner from Kansas educated in the South, I still don’t know how I ended up surrounded by Californians, but I am delighted to live here with two of them, my wonderful wife and daughter, as well as our stinky bulldog.
